Design nonconformance (2008-10-16)
Good memory that works great in my Acer Travelmate 800. But according to the picture the module has four memory chips (on each side), but the memory module I received has twice as many chips (eight on each side) without any PNY mark, so don't trust the picture.

PNY Optima 1GB DDR (2008-09-22)
The order arrived with in a reasonable amount of time. Quality, performance was as expected. Very satisfied. I would order this this source again.

Incompatibility with IBM ThinkPad (2008-09-15)
I purchased this memory module to upgrade the RAM in my notebook. However, there is an apparent incompatibility between this 1GB DDR module and my IBM ThinkPad 1836-xxx notebook. I returned the first module and subsequently received a replacement (not sure if it was the original or a new module) which does not work either. The PNY website specifically lists this module as being compatible with my notebook. By the way, I have multiple 1836-xxx notebooks in my office and I tried the memory in more than one each time to no avail. It looks like a good module and is comparible cheap. Nevertheless, this module is of no use to me because it won't work in my PC.

Works great with Dell Inspiron 700m laptop (2008-07-17)
Looked at a number of companies' memory chips and decided to take chance on PNY. I have used their products in the past and been completely satisfied. I purchased this for my 700m (and specifically wanted to mention this since I had a hard time determining the requirements for a 700m). The Dell takes one or two modules up to 1GB each. They don't have to match in size, so I am told, but it is best if they do. I purchased two 1GB modules. Installation was not as easy as expected, but not hard either. The lower memory module is inserted by removing the "M" panel from the bottom of the Inspiron. The upper module requires that you disassemble part of the computer. Again, not as hard as expected. [...] It took me about 20 minutes to install both chips and get the laptop up and running. What a difference! I started with 2 x 256MB and upgraded to 2 x 1GB. Where the laptop churned and churned when I switched users--taking 2-3 minutes to switch--now a user change takes about 10-15 secs.
Should things change after I have had them for a while, I will update this. For the moment, I am very pleased.

Computer Chip Upgrade for Laptop (2008-04-23)
Prior to this purchase, my laptop would shut down or freeze when I was editing pictures. I needed a screw driver to open the compartment and my fingers inserted the chip. The first time I inserted the chip my computer did not work. I took it out and reinserted it the exact same way and my computer immediately recognized the memory and worked faster than ever. I recommend this upgrade.
